This romantic comedy depicts the lifestyle of a woman and her activities trying to find a marriage partner in the modern age. It is based on a popular comic, which is the longest selling series on the V Comi manga app (with a total of over 10,000,000 views) This is the first collaboration between director Akiko Oku, known for the long-running hit movie Tremble All You Want, and Jiro (Shisonnu), the “King of Conte,” whose novel Amai Osake De Ugai (Gargle With Sweet Sake) is written from the perspective of an average middle-aged woman, and showcases his one-of-a-kind sensibilities. The cast brings together capable actors such as Mei Kurokawa, Asami Usuda, Tomoya Nakamura, and Kei Tanaka. This movie applauds the modern woman, depicting female friendships, love, and marriage through the lens of konkatsu, (the cultural custom of searching for a spouse).
