A touching biographical drama about the life of Hideyo Noguchi, the scientist widely known as the world-dominating master of bacteriology, portrayed through his relationship with his mother Shika. Screenplay by Kaneto Shindo of "Bokuto kidan (The Strange Story of Oyuki)" (1992); directed by Seijiro Koyama of "Shiroite (The Pale Hand)"; and filmed by Masahiko Iimura of the same movie.
