After a 20 year hiatus, this is the latest feature film from Sadao Nakajima, known as one of the masters in the Japanese film industry. Based on showcasing the appeal of sword fights, this film reexamines the roots of sword fighting action in period dramas, depicting the masculine passion and love that is packed into a single blade, and featuring incredibly raw, human performances.

In addition, the cast is comprised of capable actors, including Kengo Kora, Mikako Tabe, and Ryo Kimura, with Nakajima's protégé Kazuyoshi Kumakiri serving as assistant director.
Kumakiri recently won a Best Film Award at the Moscow International Film Festival for My Man.
Over Nakajima's 59 years directing films, this one was made to influence the next generation, and showcases Nakajima’s 59 year career in film.
This new samurai film will go down in Japanese film history.
